Indira Jaising is an Advocate who known for her legal activism in promoting human rights causes. She founded an NGO along with her husband Anand Grover named “Lawyers Collective”.
In 2018, she was ranked 20th in the list of 50 Greatest leaders of the World by Fortune Magazine. She appointed as the first woman to be designated a Senior Advocate by the Bombay High Court.
She came into the news headline when she tweeted below statement to Nirbhaya’s mother:
“While I fully identify with the pain of Asha Devi I urge her to follow the example of Sonia Gandhi who forgave Nalini and said she didn’t not want the death penalty for her. We are with you but against death penalty.”
On the other hand Nirbhaya’s mother said “Who is Indira Jaising to give me such a suggestion? Whole country wants the convicts to be executed. Just because of people like her, justice is not served to rape victims”.
