Neal Mohan Career:
After graduation, he worked for Accenture, which was then owned by Arthur Andersen. In 1997, he joined Net Gravity, instantly becoming a prominent role in the company’s operations and significantly increasing its reputation.
Net Gravity was purchased by DoubleClick in 1997. He relocated from California to the company’s headquarters in New York and gradually became increasingly involved in major business activities within the company as the 2000s progressed, with DoubleClick counting on him to slash expenses in the aftermath of the dot-com bubble crash.
He rose to the position of vice president of business operations before returning to Stanford in 2003 to pursue his MBA.
Google agreed to buy DoubleClick for $3.1 billion on April 13, 2007. The transition was largely managed by Google executive Susan Wojcicki, who worked closely with Mohan for the next 15 years. Mohan was an integral part of the merger effort and officially joined Google in 2007. Mohan gained recognition in business operations at Google, to the point where Twitter wanted to hire him as chief product officer. He was Google’s senior vice president of display and video ads before being transferred to YouTube.
Mohan joined YouTube as Chief Product Officer in 2015. Throughout the late 2010s and early 2020s, he oversaw many of the company’s major releases, including YouTube Music, YouTube TV, YouTube Premium, and YouTube Shorts.
Wojcicki, the then-CEO of YouTube, resigned on February 16, 2023. Mohan took over as CEO in her absence.
