Nanaji Deshmukh Education:
He did high schooling from Sikar, where the Raoraja gave him a scholarship. Later, he studied in Bits Pilani and in the same year he joined the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh).
Nanaji Deshmukh Career:
Nanaji Deshmukh was very close to Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar who encouraged him to attend RSS shakhas. Later, Nanaji was sent to Uttar Pradesh as a Pracharak where he met Deen Dayal Upadhyaya for the first time. After some time, he went to Gorakhpur as a Pracharak.
Due to his hard work towards RSS, he commenced 250 Sangh Shakhas in and around Gorakhpur and also established first Saraswati Shishu Mandir at Gorakhpur in 1950.
In 1947, RSS decided to launch two new journals Rashtradharma & Panchjanya and a newspaper named Swadesh where Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee has taken the responsibility of editor and Nanaji Deshmukh as the managing director. These publications gained too much popularity because of their strong nationalistic content.
Later, Bharatiya Jana Sangh came into being. Deshmukh was asked by Shri Guruji to take charge of Bharatiya Jana Sangh in Uttar Pradesh as general secretary. In 1967 Bharatiya Jana Sangh became the part of United legislature Party and Joined the government which was headed by Chaudhary Charan Singh.
Nanaji Deshmukh and Morarji Desai heading the Janata Party government. Nanaji Deshmukh has won the 1977 elections from Balrampur Lok Sabha Constituency of Uttar Pradesh. In 1999, Nanaji Deshmukh was nominated to Rajya Sabha by the NDA Government in recognition of his services to the nation.
After his retirement from the politics, he dedicated all of his time to do social work. He did lots of work in Gonda (Uttar Pradesh), Beed (Maharashtra). The motto of his project was
“Har hath ko denge kaam, har khet ko denge paanee”.
He also established Chitarkoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya in Chitrakoot, India’s first rural University and Nanaji Deshmukh served as its Chancellor. Later, he founded Deendayal Research Institute (DRI) in 1972.
