Unni Mukundan Education:
He did schooling at Pragati Higher Secondary School in Ahmedabad and earned his Bachelor’s in English Literature and Journalism from Prajyoti Niketan College, Pudukad.
Unni Mukundan Career:
Unni Mukundan made his acting debut in the Tamil movie named “Seedan”, a remake of Nandanam (2002).
Unni’s turning point came from the film Mallu Singh (2012), directed by Vyshakh. The film was a big success, running for more than 100 days. He appeared in the films Theevram and The Hitlist as a cameo. In the same year, he appeared in B. Unnikrishnan’s Ezham Suryan and I Love Me. His action sequences received positive feedback from the audience.
In 2013, he appeared in M. Padmakumar’s Ithu Pathiramanal and Orissa. He was also seen in D Company, an anthology of three privately produced action films.
In 2014, he appeared in The Last Supper, directed by Vinil, which was a flop. In the same year, he made a comeback as one of the titular characters in Lal Jose’s mega-successful film Vikramadithyan, alongside Dulquer Salmaan.
In 2015, he appeared as a supporting actor in Deepu Karunakaran’s Fireman, starring Mammootty. The same year, he starred in Samrajyam II: Son of Alexander as Jordan, Alexander’s son who was the protagonist of the prequel.
In 2016, he directed the action thriller Style, which was a decent commercial success. He later appeared in the critically acclaimed films Kaattum Mazhayum and Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya, both of which were fantasy romantic comedies. He made his Tollywood debut as Raghava, the son of Sathyam, in the film Janatha Garage (Mohanlal).
He made his debut as a lyricist and singer in the 2017 film Achayans. In the film, he played one of the lead roles alongside Jayaram and Adil Ibrahim, and it was a commercial success. In the same year, he co-starred alongside Asif Ali in another multi-hero film, Avarude Raavukal, which earned mixed reviews.
In 2018, he co-wrote the Tamil-Telugu bilingual film Bhaagamathie with Anuskha Shetty, which was a commercial and critical success. His following two films were thrillers Ira and Chanakyathanthram. Both films earned good reviews and were economically successful.
His first 2019 release was Haneef Adeni’s Mikhael, in which he played antagonist Marco Jr. He was last seen in the film Meppadiyan, which was released in theatres on January 14, 2022. He will also appear in the Telugu flick Khiladi.
On August 17, 2020, Unni Mukundan started his new film production firm, Unni Mukundan Films (UMF).
