Ponniyin Selvan “I”directed by Mani Ratnam, surpassed the $1 billion milestone in India within a short period of time thanks to strong advance booking numbers

The advance ticket sales for the Tamil and Telugu versions of the movie started on Sunday, and within hours, the excitement for the movie was evident 

The first instalment of a two-part historical epic based on Kalki's same-titled novel is titled I

One of the most anticipated movies of the year, the historical fiction has a hefty budget and a star-studded cast.

The movie made $1.46 crore after selling 78,000 seats by lunchtime, according to industry tracker Sacnilk 

Of this, just the Tamil version brought in $1.37 crore, and the Telugu-dubbed version brought in about $9 lakh 

Before Friday, the amount will undoubtedly surpass the 10-crore threshold, and if the buzz persists, it may even increase significantly 

Released in five languages, including Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam, Ponniyin Selvan stars Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, and Trisha Krishnan
