Naomi Judd, part of the Grammy-award winning country music duo The Judds, is dead at 76.

Judd's daughters, country singer Wynonna and actress Ashley Judd, confirmed the artist's death in a statement

Naomi Judd teamed up with her daughter Wynonna to form one of the most successful mother-daughter country music duos in history. Naomi famously left the industry and started a new career as an author.

One of the Judds' biggest hits was 1984's "Mama He's Crazy," which won them their first Grammy Award.

Naomi Judd was born Diana Ellen Judd on January 11, 1946, in Ashland, Ky.

The Judds stopped releasing albums in the 90s after Naomi was diagnosed with hepatitis c and Wynonna started her own solo career

Daughter Ashley Judd is an actor and humanitarian known for her roles in such movies as “Kiss the Girls,” ″Double Jeopardy” and “Heat.”
