Rohit Sharma, the captain of India's Test team, tested positive for COVID-19, which may make him questionable for the lone Test against England at Edgbaston.

If the same procedures are followed as for the current England-New Zealand series, Rohit will stay in isolation at the team hotel for a total of five days.

The Test starts on July 1.

If Rohit is unable to captain India during the England Test, it is unknown who would take his place.

The selectors named KL Rahul vice captain when the team was revealed in May, but he is not in England since he just suffered a groyne injury before to the home T20I series against South Africa.

Rahul's fitness has not yet been updated by the BCCI, and Rohit's replacement has not yet been named.

The news of Rohit's positive test came through after the third day's play of the warm-up match against Leicestershire.
