On August 31, the Buffalo Bills added punter Sam Martin to their roster, although his deal terms weren't made public

Martin reportedly agreed to a deal with the team to join what many pundits believe to be a Super Bowl-caliber squad

A one-year, $1,272,500 deal between Martin and the Bills has a $1,047,000 cap charge for Buffalo

The Denver Broncos, Martin's former team, had planned to pay him $2.25 million, but he reportedly refused to accept a wage reduction during the offseason

“A lot went into that decision,” Martin said recently. “But overall, I think I ended up in the right spot, let’s put it that way. It’s my tenth year in the league

Martin, who was selected by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, spent the previous two seasons in Denver, where he shared a team with Von Miller

He had played 123 games, averaged 46.3 yards per punt, and had 191 of his 527 career punts go inside the 20-yard line when he arrived in Buffalo

The 2022 NFL season opening against the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday, September 8, will be Martin's first game as a Buffalo Bill
