The Emerald Court development design, which calls for the construction of 14 buildings with a ground floor and nine floors each, was approved by the Noida Authority in 2005
In 2012, the Noida authority reviewed the new plan, in which the height of the twin towers was fixed at 40 floors
The Supreme Court ruled in August 2021 that the constructions must be demolished since the minimum distance standard was broken during construction
The buildings were scheduled to be torn down in May, however that date was later moved to August 21. The deadline was just extended by the Supreme Court till August 28
