Alka Lamba is an Indian Politician from AAP Party. She joined the Aam Aadmi Party on 26 December 2014 after serving more than 20 years at the Congress Party. Alka Lamba Personal Life & Career:

Alka Lamba was born on 21 September 1975 in Delhi, India. She did schooling from Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Delhi and completed graduation from Dyal Singh College and Stephen’s College, Delhi University & also did a Masters in Chemistry from Bundelkhand University.

She started her political career in 1994 & joined the National Students Union of India (NSUI) as a Delhi State Girl Convener. In 1995, she had won the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) election with the huge margin for the post of President. After that, she worked as All India Girl Convener for NSUI in 1996 and elected as the President of all India NSUI in 1997.

In 2002, she was appointed as the General Secretary of All India Mahila Congress, but unfortunately, 2003 was not a lucky year for her because in this year she lost Delhi Assembly elections from Moti Nagar Constituency. In 2006, she became a member of All India Congress Committee (AICC) and at the same year appointed as General Secretary of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC). She was also appointed as the Vice Chairperson of National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD).

From 2007 to 2011, she served as the Secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) at Indian National Congress.

Alka Lamba Controversies:

On August 2015, she along with her supporters with Cricket Bats & Lathis badly vandalized a liquor shop located near the Kashmere Gate, Old Delhi. Also in a CCTV footage, it was found that Alka Lamba instructed her supporters to throw out the stuffs from the shop. According to reports, shopkeeper was a BJP supporter & denied to put AAP Party advertisement posters in his shop windows.

While being a member of National Commission for Women, she was one of the members of enquiry team of Guwahati Molestation Case & went to meet the victim of this case and was criticized for revealing victim’s identity in a press conference.

On 21 December 2018, AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal demands her resignation from AAP, as party denied passing a state assembly resolution apparently aimed at withdrawing late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s Bharat Ratna over his failure to curb the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Alka Lamba was not happy with this decision to take back Bharat Ratna from Gandhi and staged a walkout to protest.
