Cyrus Mistry was an Indian-born Irish businessman. From 2012 until 2016, he served as the chairman of the Indian commercial behemoth Tata Group. He was the group’s sixth chairman and just the second (after Nowroji Saklatwala) to not have the Tata last name. A selection committee chose him in mid-2012 to lead the Tata Group, and he assumed control in December of the same year. After giving Mistry the chance to leave voluntarily, the board of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, decided to do so in October 2016. After schooling attended Imperial College London as well, and in 1990 he graduated from the University of London with a Bachelor of Engineering in civil engineering. Cyrus Mistry Career:
In 1991, Mistry began working as a director for the Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Ltd, a family-owned construction business. Mistry has served as chairman of Tata Sons and the Tata Group in addition to managing director of Shapoorji Pallonji & Company, a subsidiary of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group.
Mistry joined the board of Tata Sons on 1 September 2006, a year after his father retired from it. He served as a Director of Tata Elxsi Limited, from 24 September 1990 to 26 October 2009, and was a Director of Tata Power Co. Ltd until 18 September 2006.
Mistry was named Tata Sons’ chairman in 2013. He also served as chairman of every significant Tata organization, including Tata Industries, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Power, Tata Teleservices, Indian Hotels, Tata Global Beverages, and Tata Chemicals.
On October 24, 2016, the Tata Sons Board decided to remove Mistry as chairman of Tata Sons.
