Matt Fitzpatrick Career:
Fitzpatrick won the Notts Golf Club Boys Amateur Championship in 2012. At the 2013 Open Championship, he made the cut and finished as the lowest amateur, earning the Silver Medal. Fitzpatrick won the U.S. Amateur later that year, earning him invitations to the 2014 Masters Tournament, U.S. Open, and Open Championship as long as he remained an amateur.
The US Amateur victory pushed him to the top of the World Amateur Golf Ranking, earning him the Mark H. McCormack Medal. He competed in the Walker Cup in September 2013.
Fitzpatrick enrolled at Northwestern University in September 2013 to play college golf for the Northwestern Wildcats; however, he left after one quarter in January 2014 to pursue a full-time amateur golf career. In the fall of 2013, he competed in five tournaments for Northwestern.
Fitzpatrick went pro after the 2014 U.S. Open, foregoing his exemption to the 2014 Open Championship. After making his professional debut at the 2014 Irish Open, he competed on the European Tour and Challenge Tour on sponsor and tournament invitations.
