Matt Fitzpatrick Career:

Fitzpatrick won the Notts Golf Club Boys Amateur Championship in 2012. At the 2013 Open Championship, he made the cut and finished as the lowest amateur, earning the Silver Medal.  Fitzpatrick won the U.S. Amateur later that year, earning him invitations to the 2014 Masters Tournament, U.S. Open, and Open Championship as long as he remained an amateur.

The US Amateur victory pushed him to the top of the World Amateur Golf Ranking, earning him the Mark H. McCormack Medal. He competed in the Walker Cup in September 2013.

Fitzpatrick enrolled at Northwestern University in September 2013 to play college golf for the Northwestern Wildcats; however, he left after one quarter in January 2014 to pursue a full-time amateur golf career. In the fall of 2013, he competed in five tournaments for Northwestern.

Fitzpatrick went pro after the 2014 U.S. Open, foregoing his exemption to the 2014 Open Championship. After making his professional debut at the 2014 Irish Open, he competed on the European Tour and Challenge Tour on sponsor and tournament invitations.

Fitzpatrick competed in the 2014 European Tour Qualifying School in November 2014, finishing 11th and qualifying for the 2015 European Tour.

Fitzpatrick began the 2015 season by missing six cuts in the first eight competitions; in June, he finished third at the Lyoness Open, followed in July by a second-place finish at the Omega European Masters, one shot behind Danny Willett.

Fitzpatrick competed in the 2016 Masters Tournament in April, finishing tied for 7th; in June, he won the 2016 Nordea Masters and rose to 32nd in the Official World Golf Ranking, his highest position to date. His performance on the European Tour in 2015 and 2016 earned him an automatic spot in the 2016 Ryder Cup.

Fitzpatrick won the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai by one shot over Tyrrell Hatton in November 2016, his third career victory.

Fitzpatrick won the Omega European Masters in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, in September 2017 with a playoff victory over Scott Hend, and he successfully defended his European Masters title in September 2018 with a playoff victory over Lucas Bjerregaard.

Fitzpatrick won his second DP World Tour Championship, in Dubai, in December 2020, defeating eventual Race to Dubai champion Lee Westwood by one shot. It was also his first Rolex Series victory.

In June 2022, he won his first major championship at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, with a one-shot victory.

Fitzpatrick won the RBC Heritage in April 2023, defeating Jordan Spieth in a playoff. Fitzpatrick won the third playoff hole after hitting his approach shot to within one foot of the hole, allowing him to make the winning birdie.
