M. M. Keeravani Career:

In 1987, Keeravani started his career as an assistant music director for Malayalam composer C. Rajamani and Telugu composer K. Chakravarthy. In the late 1980s, he worked on films such as Collectorgari Abbayi and Bharathamlo Arjunudu. For nearly a year, he sought the advice of veteran lyricist Veturi at this time.

Keeravani’s first big break as an independent musician occurred in 1990 with the film Kalki, however the film was never released, and the soundtrack went ignored as well.

However, it was Ram Gopal Varma’s hit Kshana Kshanam (1991) that established Keeravani as a music director. All of the songs from this film became top chartbusters, and Keeravani was inundated with offers from all across the south Indian film industries. Criminal was his first significant Hindi film (1994).

He is well-known for his contributions to the Telugu film industry through playback singing collections for popular films such as Annamayya. Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin (1996), Sur – The Melody of Life, Zakhm, Saaya, Jism, Criminal, Special 26, Rog, and Paheli are among the Hindi films for which he has composed music.

He has composed music for Malayalam films such as Neelagiri (1991), Soorya Manasam (1992), and Devaraagam (1996). Over 220 films in various Indian languages have been scored by him. Music and background for the movie Baahubali 1 and 2 were composed by M. Keeravani.

Keeravani got a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for “Naatu Naatu” from the 2022 Telugu film RRR, as well as a National Film Award for Best Music Direction for Annamayya in 1997.
