Being an acclaimed media professional who worked for about ten years as a senior correspondent from Shimla, HP, for Jansatta (An Indian Express Group), then for three years in Delhi. He was also a member of the Government of Himachal Pradesh’s Press Accreditation Committee, the State Press Advisory Committee, the Press Gallery Committee of the State Legislative Assembly, the Government Pahari Language Committee, and the Press Club of Shimla.
He was elected to State Legislative Assembly in March 2003 and got re-elected in 2007 from Santokhgarh Assembly Constituency.
He won the Haroli Assembly seat in 2012. Santokhgarh was the segment of Haroli Assembly’s previous name before delimitation in 2007.
In 2017, he was re-elected from Haroli to the thirteenth Vidhan Sabha (4th term). On January 4th, 2018, he won the election for Congress Legislative Party Leader. In 2022, he won Haroli once more.
