Shivkumar Sharma Career:
He started his musical career at a very young age. Starting from childhood, he had a lot of interest in music. He wrote the background music for one of the scenes in Shantaram’s film, “Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baje” in 1956.
Shivkumar Sharma is credited for making the santoor a popular classical instrument. He released his first solo album in 1960. In 1967, he teamed up with flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia and guitarist Brij Bhushan Kabra to produce an album that became one of the biggest successes of Indian classical music. Another collaboration with Hariprasad Chaurasia was for India’s first super hit “Silsila” which was released in 1980.
They became known as the Shiv-Hari music duo. Some of the films where they composed music for musical hits such as Chandni, Lamhe, Faasle, and Darr.
