Vice Admiral Karambir Singh is the Current Flag Officer Commanding in Chief of the Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy. He was appointed as the Chief of Naval Staff, succeeding Admiral Sunil Lanba who retires on 30 May 2019.

He did schooling from Barnes School, Deolali and Graduate of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and College of Naval Warfare, Mumbai.
Vice Admiral Karambir Singh Career:
Vice Admiral Karambir Singh was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 1 July 1980 and earned his wings as a helicopter pilot in 1982. He has extensive experiences with the HAL Chetak, Kamov helicopters.
Vice Admiral Karambir Singh has commanded four ships – Indian Coast Guard ship Chandbibi, missile corvette INS Vijaydurg, guided missile destroyers INS Rana and INS Delhi.
He has served as the Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet and Joint Director Naval Air Staff at Naval Headquarters.
He joined as the Flag Officer Commanding in Chief of the Eastern Naval Command on 31 October 2017.
The Government of India named Vice Admiral Karambir Singh as the Chief of Naval Staff after the retirement of Vice Admiral Bimal Verma which is on 31st May 2019. He will be the first helicopter pilot to become Chief of Naval Staff.
